Gnostic Mass Frequently Asked Questions
Donations:
Recommended Donation is $5, we do accept donations greater than $5 as well. We do also accept donations less than $5 if you are experiencing financial difficulty and would still like to attend.
Are there Rules?
Please follow all instructions provided by the Officials of the Mass(Children, Deacon, Priest and Priestess). Please remove all shoes before entering the sanctuary. All food and drink are to be kept in the dining area.
What do I do when Mass is over?
Many people enjoy visiting after the Mass. This is fine and for this we suggest bringing a bottle of wine or beverage of your choice, finger foods, cheese crackers, etc to share in a sort of pot luck fashion.
What is the Mass?
If you are not familiar with the Mass at all, please read the following: LIBER XV: The Gnostic Mass. Especially pay attention to what the congregants do and you will be ahead of the game.
What if I don't/can't consume alcoholic beverages?
We ask that you plese bring a substitue with you as we may not be able to accomodate if you have specific dietary needs.
Please notify an officer upon arrival so that the officers know and will accomodate you.
If we don't know we can't help you. It is your responsibility to come up and let us know.
However we do give many warnings ahead of time.
What if I don't want to participate just yet?
Mass is a particatory event and everyone attending is part of the Mass.
It is a participatory ceremonial ritual.
However, if it is your first time attending you don't have to participate in communion.
If you have attended a Mass before participation is expected.
What if I can't remember responses or get lost?
We hand out Missals so that people can follow along and respond when necessary.
If you get lost no biggie, find your place. It is hard to get lost during Mass because there is a Deacon
directing your motions and for the most part you follow either the Deacon or the people around you.
What exactly am I eating and drinking?
Our cakes are made of red wine leavings, honey, flour/kamut mix and a very little bit of Abramelin Oil.
If you would like to bring your own Cake of Light to Mass, we ask that it be very clearly marked and wrapped in plastic wrap.
The wine we ues varies; we mostly use store bought wine, and occasionally we use home-made wines.
